Being the 'newbie' at church can feel a little awkward. Maybe for you that brings back unpleasant memories of having a nametag slapped on your shirt or being asked to stand up and introduce yourself to a room of strange people.

So, here is what you can expect at a weekend service:

• A comfortable, casual atmosphere • Real people pursuing a real relationship with God and each other • An engaging worship experience with modern music • Messages that are relevant to your daily life • Exciting programs for children and middle school students

What denomination is your church?

We are a nondenominational church and we believe the Bible is the absolute Word of God. We are definitely an Evangelical Christian church.

We believe in all the basic doctrines of conservative evangelical Christianity. On doctrinal issues which have historically divided believers into denominational groups we seek to find Biblically sound middle ground.

In essential beliefs — we have unity.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Ephesians 4:4-6

In non-essential beliefs — we have liberty.

Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things… Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls… So then each of us shall give account of himself to God… Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Romans 14:1, 4, 12, 22

In all our beliefs — we show charity.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:2

Statement of Faith

Alvin Horning
Lead Pastor

As the Lead Pastor at Grace and Truth Fellowship, I personally invite you to our church. After 40 years in the business world, in 2000 the Lord called me to serve Him in a lead pastoral role here in the Morgantown area. It is my desire to see individuals acknowledge Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. I have been encouraged and challenged in my walk with Him as I have preached through several books of the Bible including the Gospel of John, James, and Revelation. A study exploring the Fruit of the Spirit has also been a blessing. My wife, Roberta, and I have one daughter, who lives with her husband and children in Alabama.

Jim Hertzler
Associate Pastor

By His grace and for His glory, God opened the door for me to become the Associate Pastor at Grace and Truth Fellowship. It is my desire to see many in the Morgantown community find forgiveness of sin through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and receive the same joy He has given me. I have found in my 36 years of pastoring, including 18 years in Alberta, Canada, that the Lord is very gracious to all who will come to Him. My wife, Faye, and I are parents of two married sons.

Arnold Petersheim
Associate Pastor

As Associate Youth Pastor, my desire is see young people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and encourage them to live as His disciples in every aspect of their lives. I came to accept Christ as my Lord and Savior as a pre-teen. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to grow in my knowledge of Christ during my teenage years in youth group and later as an adult. My wife, Esther, and I have enjoyed serving this church in both leadership and administrative capacities. We are the parents of three adult children.
